Woodland Expansion in Scotland

National Access Forum - Update

Asulam for bracken control - letter to the Scotsman
On 3 October 2011 Lord Lindsay wrote to the Editor of The Scotsman to voice the majority view opinion of the Forum on the decision to ban Asulam. A copy of the letter can be viewed here.
Muirburn Group - News Release
- highlight the changes to the muirburn legislation introduced by the Wildlife & Natural Environment (Scotland) Act 2011;
- provide an indication of additional changes that may be introduced in the future; and
- give encouragement for carrying out muirburn throughout the season.

The Scottish Government's overview of carbon-rich soils
A discussion paper on carbon-rich soils has been published on the Scottish Government website. The paper sets out the current knowledge on the benefit of carbon-rich soils, the trade-offs between uses and the support that is already being provided for conservation and restoration.
